Is it good to live a life of secret?

This week, there was a study published in Australia saying that those adoptive children that came to know about the status of adoption at a later age have difficulties in their relationship with their adoptive parents brings a question to the fore "Is it good to live a life of secret"? More specifically with our adoptive children?

As I talk to many Indian adoptive families I see many educated families not believing in disclosing the truth. I've also heard of adoptive children in India having emotional difficulties because they've been told about their adoption at a later stage. Knowing what I know now, I'll make a general assumption: "Majority of Indians prefer to keep the truth about the adoption of their children a secret"

This assumption bring up a question "Why"? What makes Indians to prefer to keep the truth from disclosing to their children? Is it good? How can this changed? Do you know?
