Missing Your Child at Christmas

The holidays are suppose to be a joyous time but the happiness wanes when there is a loved one missing. Even though you may only have a photo...

to look at while you wait, you have most likely already fallen in love with the child you are waiting to bring home. There are a few things we did while we were waiting to be united with our child. We bought a small, silver/grayish glass ornament that was fashioned in the shape of an elephant to hang on our tree to make us feel that our child was a part of our celebration even though she was miles and miles away, to the other side of the world in fact. Another idea I had was to make an ornament with a copy of the photo we had of her and place that on the tree as well. We even went so far as to wrap a couple of presents and set them on top of the entertainment center for when she did arrive home. She was still far away with her Ayahs at that time but it sure did make it seem more real that one day soon she would be joining us and be included, in the flesh, on the next Christmas celebration. When she finally did arrive home in March of the next year it was fun to watch her open her gifts and the anticipation of her joining the family felt even more complete. It was a great feeling.
