Do you know this?

There are approximately 18000 parents registered with CARA, while the number of children in the Government's adoption pool is less 1800.

School & Family Tree

If your child has started school already there is a chance that they may come home with an assignment to make a family tree. When you’re an adoptive family you just have to be a little more creative in the making of one.

It could be fun working on this with your child, especially if you are artistic. Maybe you could add some designs for a border or flags to show your child’s birth country and new country, if this is applicable. If your child is from your country of origin but a different state, then perhaps you could add state flags instead. I found a website that has some good ideas to use to make the tree or alternatives listed, just click on the orange links there. Maybe this project could be added to your child’s life book after they get their high marks on it at school! Follow this link to see them:
