In April/ May of 2005, there was an article in "The Hindu" about police busting a kidnapping ring in Chennai that was stealing children and selling them to adoption agencies which in turn alleged to have placed children for adoption. Many children were identified by the parents in Chennai that were traced to being sent to western countries.
Here is a story published in 'Time' magazine (dated 21st August, 2008) about a child that was stolen and placed in adoption with a family in Australia. Unfortunately, in a heartbreaking story like this, there are no winners but only losers.
