When I first heard about Hope House I knew I wanted to be involved in the cause. As a child of adoption, my heart goes out to those children waiting to belong solely to someone else. I considered my first posting and decided that in order to speak about adoption it was important to understand the definition of the word.
One definition that stood out to me was “to take up and make one’s own”. I recalled the moment I first held my daughter. I took her up into my arms and knew immediately that she belonged to me. She is a teenager now but still when she puts her arms around me and says, “I’m so glad you’re mine and I’m yours” I reflect upon that moment when I first knew she was my own and my heart was hers.
I would like to encourage all those considering adoption to “take” the time to consider the impact you can make in a child’s life and “make” a difference in your own life today.
