Dangers of not finalizing adoption in India

Do you ever wonder the consequences of not finalizing the adoption? First of all why would anyone not finalize the adoption? Well….the reasons can be many ranging from illegal adoption to mere ignorant to laziness. Irrespective of the reasons for not doing it, the consequences can be painful.

CNN-IBN featured a story of a three-year-old Palak who was adopted but never had her adoption finalized. An impoverished family found Palak in a heap of garbage. For whatever the reasons, adoption was not finalized and you’ll read the consequences from a story link below.

My thoughts are more than just consequences. Without questioning the love and kindness that this disadvantaged couple has shown to this little girl, there’s a need for the government to lay down clear guidelines (a process) to legitimize such adoptions without compromising the rules of illegal adoptions.

After all, an innocent little girl has a family with loving parents and they should be given all the support that they need from the community.
