Economical place to stay in New Delhi

During my recent visit to New Delhi (well....that was my first visit to New Delhi), part of the time I stayed at a place called YMCA (Young Men's Christian Association). YMCA is a fairly old and reputable organization.

It is located in the heart of the city (at Jaisingh Road) from where pretty much everything is accessible. I paid 250 rupees by taxi to the airport and my room was 1380 rupees per night. This is a non AC, single room but had two beds, attached bathroom, telephone and a television. Best thing about the room rent is that your breakfast and dinner is included in it.

I saw more number of foreigners there than Indians staying. They have security, Internet facility, Ayurveda parlour, swimming pool, fitness center and tour operators. They also have much larger AC rooms for higher price.

If you're coming from the United States, US consulate will be 40 rupees (approximately one dollar) one way by a three wheeler. Front desk will arrange all that for you. They don't accept foreign currency and you must pay only in Indian rupees.

They have web site that you can visit to get more details at this link: http://www.newdelhiymca.org/tourist-hotel.htm
