Adoption Q and A # 9

I live in India and I would like to adopt a child. I was told that my adoption can take years. How can I speed up the adoption process?

When you fill out your application, don't make your choice for a child's choice too narrow. For example, asking for twins of different genders under three months old would be very difficult. So try the following:

  1. Make the gender choice "Either" (if it's ok with your family)
  2. Do not make the age specific such as "Six month old" rather make it "under one year"
  3. Consider being open to minor special needs children. Apart from major conditions such as cerebral palsy and mental retardation, there are children considered special needs who are born with cleft palate and unilateral club foot which can be easily corrected.
  4. Know the process the keep everything ready to respond as quickly and as thoroughly as you can.
