New Visa Rules

Our indian kids future trips back to India now include a new step to get there. If you are adopting a 2nd, 3rd, or 4th time around from India and want to take your child with you to pick up their new sibling or if any of your adopted children want to go back on a visit for whatever reason , you will now have to..

surrender their Indian passport , which in some cases is the only item the child has brought with them from their precious lst country. The Visa your child may now have is also no good anymore, instead they will be required to get an Entry Visa to enter India. There is something about a 2 month rule also not allowing people to enter less than 2 months from the previous time they were there, even in emergencies. This new law includes any former Indian citizen and will even apply to our kid’s children, grand children and beyond. Applying for your child to become a PIO or OCI seems like it might also do the trick, but our children will still have to give up their Indian passport to apply for those titles and I’m not sure if this path requires the Entry VISA also . It seems a bit confusing at this point but to get the full details available right now you can read them at this website:
