Spotting the warning signs of child abuse

Last year the Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD) of India commissioned a study on child abuse and the findings are startling. Study found that almost 60% of Indian children are subjected to some form of abuse or another including sexual abuse and sexual assault.

We as citizens of this country, do we have a responsibility towards our children? I personally think we do and when we fail our children today, we are failing our nation for tomorrow. So what do you do when you witness child abuse in your neighborhood? Leave alone reporting India doesn’t have adequate and appropriate resources to learn what and how to report.

I was listening to NPR (National Public Radio of the USA) today and they aired a program titled ‘Spotting the warning signs of child abuse’ and I thought that there are some good strategies for any individual to learn to become empowered. Click here to open the page and then click on ‘Listen Now’ on top of the page to listen to the radio program.

I hope you have 30 minutes of time to spare to learn something new to help our children.
