Helping baby adjust

Adoption tip # 42

After you are referred a child and are waiting to travel, ask your adoption agency if you may send a special toy or blanket to your child. They can tell you if this is allowed and they may hook you up with a family who is about to travel who can deliver the package for you. To help your child become a little familiar with you before they come home you can place the item on your couch to pick up your scent. You may also want to send a family picture and/or a tape recording of your voice(if the orphanage has a player) with a sweet message to your child. These things may help your baby feel more comfortable when they meet you.
