Dirving the distance

Adoption tip # 39

I remember after our first child arrived home, social worker visited us for the post placement visit and took note of everything especially the home environment. Social worker was mandated to do three post placement visits by CARA. Adoptive parents are required to reimburse the cost to the social worker so we discussed with the social worker to see if we could drive half the distance to her place and she would meet us there.

She graciously agreed to our request and we drove for the next two visits and it made a small difference in our expenses.

Adoption tip: Discuss with your social worker to see if you can drive half/ entire distance to meet with her from second post placement visit on to save a little.
