Paying more to Uncle Sam

Pay more for N-600 and N-565

Many of you may or may not have heard the previous buzz regarding the increase in cost for filing the N-600 to receive your child’s Certificate of Citizenship or the N-565 to receive the Certificate of Citizenship reflecting your child’s name change. This in fact will be implemented and will be put into effect July 30, 2007.

The cost to file the N-600 is currently $215 and will remain that amount until July 29, 2007. All applications received on July 30, 2007 and after will be subject to the new fee of $420.
The cost to file the N-565 is currently $220 and will remain that amount until July 29, 2007. All applications received on July 30, 2007 and after will be subject to the new fee of $380.

If your family has already completed and filed the N-600 or the N-565 but you have not received the Certificate of Citizenship then these new fees are not applicable to you. If you know that you have not completed the N-600 or the N-565 and you file the application after July 29, 2007 you will be responsible for the new increased fee.

N-600 and N-565 forms can be downloaded from the USCIS website at www.uscis.gov click on the Immigration Forms tab and scroll down until you see the form listed.
