Adoption tip # 19

As much as we like to have a fancy crib and it's accesseroes to our adoptive child, for some children, crib is a symbol of lonesomeness and neglect because they may have been left in the cribs for the convenience of others. Your child may/ may not adjust to sleeping in the crib so go slow in introducing them to the crib. To begin with, you must reassure the child that he/ she is loved and will not be neglected. You can play hide and seek while they are in the crib and you outside, keeping their favorite toys inside the crib, and allowing them to crawl in/ out of the crib (if it allows) are some of the activities you can try. Go with what your child can handle.
