When your adoptive child displays 'loneliness battling' behaviour (such as body rocking, sucking fingers, aggressively swinging legs), not only you must reassure the child with your words but also with your actions. Let the child know that he/she is not alone by holding them, caressing them, kissing, hugging, laughing and playing with them. Slowly but surely this behaviour will fade away.
