I am an Indian citizen living abroad. I would like to adopt a child from India but CARA web site doesn’t list the country of my current residence. Help please?
Although you’re an Indian citizen, you will still be subjected to inter-country adoption regulations set forth by CARA. CARA only lists 24 countries on their site (http://www.adoptionindia.nic.in). If the country of your current residence is not listed, I suggest that you contact the Indian embassy in that country for guidance. You can visit the web site of Ministry of External Affairs of India at this link: http://meaindia.nic.in and then go to “Missions & posts abroad” to find your country. Good luck.
